Lazy Plants

Main plant stem grows along ground after about stage V8. Root growth is normal and symptoms are not because of root lodging (Neuffer, Coe, and Wessler, 1997).

Corn field shows several lazy stalks growing on the ground instead of standing upright.
Prostrate stems.
View looking down on plants shows one normal stem that's upright in the middle of several lazy stalks lying around it or leaning against it
Some stems are held up by plants not expressing symptoms.
